Vintage guilloché enamel “scalloped heart” locket. Inside locket marked Lalonde, gold filled. (circa 1920-1940). Strung on watermelon tourmaline and 14K gold chain. Chain measures 27 inches in length.

Guilloché in jewelry making involves carving a design into a base metal. The guilloché pattern is then filled with different colors of enamel paint. After enameling decorative accents such as hand painted roses may be added. Machines used to create guilloché patterns are no longer manufactured. Thus, guilloché today is found mostly in luxury watches.
